Fifty-five years after Behrouz Vossoughi’s iconic portrayal of Dash Akol, Amir Jadidi is set to take on the legendary character in a new adaptation.
According to CinemaDaily, the project will be directed by acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Hamid Nematollah and produced as a series for Iran’s home entertainment network.
The new “Dash Akol” series, based on Sadegh Hedayat’s celebrated story, is being developed for the Upera streaming platform, with Jadidi playing the title role.
The character was famously portrayed by Vossoughi in Masoud Kimiai’s classic 1971 film, making Jadidi’s casting a notable new chapter for one of Iranian cinema’s most memorable characters.
